Behind The Camera
Clay Prudhomme, Founder and Photographer
A Clemson University alumnus and Charleston area resident, Clay brings a unique, analytical perspective to the creative process.
Humble Beginnings
Growing up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Clay was shaped by the outdoors. That lifelong passion for the coast and the woods eventually created a passion for photography.
Curiosity to Craft
Clay’s curiosity around photography started around 2005 with disposable cameras and a habit of capturing every field trip and family travel. This early curiosity grew until 2015, when a GoPro sparked a new desire to find unique angles and perspectives. By 2018, he upgraded to his first Sony camera and drone, initially using them to create content for his own lure company, Black Water Bass.
Professional Pivot
While the early years were fueled by recreation and adventure, 2022 marked a turning point. Clay dove deep into the technical side of photography and videography by, researching methods and settings and testing new lenses to fine tune his shots. After obtaining his drone license and refining his business model, he officially launched BlackWater Creative LLC in September 2024.
Blackwater Creative Today
What began as a hobby has grown into a passion driven agency. Today, Clay provides professional photography, videography, and marketing media for a diverse range of clients. Having spent the last year perfecting his pricing and brand development—all while balancing a full-time career—Clay is now producing everything from weekly YouTube content to local TV commercials.
